Along The River (Ongoing)Photography

The project aims to document the people, landscapes, and unexpected moments along Turkey's largest river, the Kızılırmak, with a modern perspective on the tranquil geography of Anatolia.

Known as Halys in ancient Greece, Maraşantiya in the time of the Hittites, and Kızılırmak in the present day, the river is one of the most important wetlands in terms of culture, geography, and economy in the Anatolian region, hosting civilizations throughout its course. It has had various impacts across the regions it passes through, effectively influencing the entire area. The river emerges in İmranlı, Sivas, and passes through 3 regions and 10 different cities with different behaviors and cultures in contemporary Turkey before flowing into the Black Sea in Bafra, Samsun. Its structure connects these regions and enables us to establish relationships between them.

This project aims to explore the transformative power of nature and its impact on human experience by capturing the essence of incidental landscapes along the river and the regions it passes through. Alongside the project, I aim to reveal the layers created and brought by the river in both its past and present forms. With the contemporary perspective I have established, I believe I can present a foresight or preview of the future.

"Along The River" is a project centered on water and aimed at expanding, with my future artistic productions, I aspire to recreate and transform the space I am working on into large-scale installations. For this purpose, I plan to travel to the region where I conduct my work and continuously produce from there.

Throughout the project, I will create visual and auditory art pieces and expand these works with various techniques and media. These works will be designed to reflect the unique features of each location and create a multi-sensory experience that brings the viewer closer to the natural world.

With this project, I aim to explore the transformative power of nature and its ability to shape our experiences. I intend to produce works that allow viewers to connect more deeply with their environment, appreciate the beauty and complexity of nature, and consider the impact of the environment on our lives.
